It’s a Black Tie Affair… Real Wedding: Beth & Tom

Come and re-live Beth and Tom’s gorgeous day with us this summer. Every detail of their day was so well thought through and beautifully done, so we were thrilled when Beth was happy to chat with us a little more about their day.

The ‘Black Tie’ theme is one we’re seeing becoming more popular recently, and we must admit we’re huge fans! It’s timeless and elegant, and creates a really lovely theme that can be super easy to match together different elements and make sure your day flows really well throughout.

Beth & Tom COMMITTED to their black tie theme - and we are obsessed. P.S. the dress, the glam waves, the pearl headband and red lip? Stunning combo. They had a fun-filled day with surprise singing waiters (even shocked the Groom!), a cocktail singer, champagne towers and more. We loved celebrating their story with them (They are childhood sweethearts from the age of 15, absolutely heart-melting!) and getting to help make their magic happen.

How did you know our venue was the one for you?

“We were supposed to get married in Turkey, we had been out and visited the hotel we wanted, the food, our accommodation etc. We were so close to putting down a large deposit and then suddenly all communication pretty much ceased. This instantly put my back up, and we decided that we could no longer trust our contacts out there. After an evening of tears and worries, I remembered the beautiful Secret Garden I had visited on my friends baby shower. I logged on and browsed your website for hours. Your transparent prices meant I could almost work out to the penny what an English wedding would cost us. I sent an email of enquiry and within the hour, I had a reply. I booked a viewing within the week and as soon as we stepped back into this stunning venue, we knew it was where we had to get married. From enquiry to post wedding, communication has been top notch (completely opposite to our Turkish disaster) and I couldn’t be happier with our choice.”

Beth and Tom had a beautiful outdoor ceremony in the Gazebo - a gorgeous August afternoon came through for them. Sharing their vows with just under 80 of their nearest and dearest, it was a beautiful ceremony. We did our signature staged confetti shot after their ceremony exit - we can’t shout from the rooftops how much we recommend this! This allowed Beth & Tom to exit their ceremony to guests clapping and cheering, grab a drink and take a walk together for five minutes to soak up their adrenaline high together whist we arranged their guests for their confetti shot along our hedgerows - another pro, this means every guest has perfect access for a nice long confetti line!

Oh and talking about drinks - we 10/10 rate Beth & Tom’s Choices! Tom had a Long Island Iced Tea to greet him at the end of the aisle, and Beth had a Passionfruit Martini. Followed by Cubans, Peach Bellinis and Passionfruit & Elderflower Spritz’s served up on the Southern Terrace for their guests. We love when Bride & Groom’s choose their own perfect cocktails for their first post ceremony drink.

Is there anything in the planning process specifically that you or your partner found the most stressful or overwhelming?

“I am an awful people pleaser, so I found it really difficult to chase up peoples RSVP’s and even when they were incredibly late, I tried to find a way to still fit them into the wedding numbers.”

Beth, tell us about your favourite tiny details or small moments of the day?

“My favourite moments… 1) watching our daughter walk down the aisle in front of me.. magical, 2) The speeches were absolutely phenomenal. We loved every second. 3) Our singer for cocktail hour, learnt and performed a song that was special to myself and Tom as a surprise to Tom. He sobbed and that melted my heart.”

If you HAD to choose, what was your most favourite moment of the day?

“I had booked Silver Service Singers as a complete surprise to all my guests including my new husband. During our desert course, a member of their team dramatically fell and caused a huge scene. This quickly turned into a half an hour performance of 6 songs, the entire wedding party was fooled and we had the BEST time singing and dancing. A memory I will never, ever forget.”

What is one detail of your day that you’re so glad you decided to do that may be considered unconventional?

“We chose to do a private champagne tower with our parents as a thank you to all they have done to support us. It was a beautiful, intimate moment during a busy and loud wedding.”

“I relive our wedding day every day in my head and I couldn’t be more thankful to the team at secret garden for such an incredible incredible experience x”

Beth and Tom: it was an honour, a privilege and an absolute joy to celebrate your beautiful 12-year-long-so-far love story with the two of you, your little family and all of your closest. Your day was beautifully designed decor wise, you had fab entertainment plans all day long, and your guests 100% brought the vibe and came ready to party. An all round winner for us!

We loved re-visiting this day and hope you’ve all enjoyed a little extra insight into a real wedding with us.
